Do you ponder the path of your feet?
In Proverbs 3-4 Solomon tells his son that two things are important in life: 1) trusting & honoring the Lord, and 2) finding & living according to wisdom. If heeded, these will add life and peace.
In much the same way, these words are just as true today as they were for Solomon’s son. If we want life and peace we must follow the same course; we must honor God and seek his wisdom. As we said yesterday, this wisdom is only found in God’s Word. Therefore, we only find life & peace through God and his gospel. Without either we will surely remain in and turn toward evil.
Proverbs 3 begins by telling us to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Chapter 4 then ends with these words, “Ponder the path of your set; then all your ways will be sure” (Proverbs 4:26). If we are to find this life and peace, we cannot trust our own devices, but must follow the Lord’s path. And we must always be aware of where our feet are leading us.
Today, ponder that path. Where are your feet leading you?
