John 17
On the night of his betrayal, Jesus prays a very intimate prayer to the Father. First, he briefly prays for himself, as he prepares to return to heaven. Then he prays for his disciples. He prays that God would sanctify and guard them, protecting them from the world. Finally, he prays for all believers, everyone who hears the good news and believes.
Very little of Scripture is directly about us in the present day. But, this is one of the few passages that is, and it comes from Jesus himself. He prays for us and our relationship with him and the Father. It is comforting to know that Jesus cares enough to pray for his disciples and all those who are impacted by their work. He went to the cross for us. He prayed for us. And now he intercedes for us. That is simply amazing.
How does it make you feel to know Jesus prayed for you?
