John 14-15

Jesus encourages his disciples and lets them know what is about to happen so they will not be surprised. In this, he reveals the way to the Father. The disciples can reach the Father by keeping the commands Jesus gave them. The primary command is to love one another in the same way Jesus loved them. When they do this, they please God and prove to be his disciples. Yet, because of the way Jesus was mistreated, they can expect the same in their lives.

People always wonder what the will of God is for their lives. If we want to glorify God with our lives, it’s pretty simple: do what he says. And what he says is pretty simple: love one another. If we can live a life encompassed by love, then we are doing well and God is pleased and we prove to be his disciples. This is the example Jesus set for us, and we are to walk in his footsteps.
