2 Corinthians 9-10
As Paul continues his discussion about the collection for the churches, he reminds the Corinthians of their eagerness. They talked a big game, and he wants to make sure they follow through so they are not put to shame. With this he reminds them that God loves generosity. Finally, he speaks about his apostolic authority and those who are trying to undermine it. He reminds the church his motives are pure and that his only boast is in Christ.
God’s desire is for all of us to be generous. We are blessed so we can be a blessing to others. What we have is never just about ourselves. We should be reminded of that often. But, when we do give, we should do it with love and joy, not out of obligation or have our arm twisted. Because if that is the case, we might as well keep what we have. So we do not have the same heart as Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11).
Are you generous with what God has given you?
