Psalm 18; 2 Samuel 19
In Psalm 18 David praises the Lord for delivering him from his enemies. David paints a vivid picture of the despair he was in and how the Lord came down to rescue him. Then he praises God for all he has done for him and the salvation God provided.
Continuing the narrative in 2 Samuel, David keeps his promise to Jonathan and finds his son. David brings Mephibosheth into his home as part of his family. He also restores all of Saulโs fields and has the servants tend the fields for him.
In this psalm we see Davidโs heart for the Lord and a declaration of the kind of life he leads. He is a righteous man who does his best to keep the Lordโs commands. We ought to live in like manner. God is our salvation and gives us victory over sin and death. His way is perfect and his word is pure (Ps 18:30). So, like David, we should always cry out to the Lord in our times of need.
Do you seek to live a righteous life that obeys the Lord’s commands?
