Galatians 1-3
In Galatians, Paul writes to the churches in Galatia about their move to bring in legalism. He makes it clear that there is only one gospel and our faith comes through faith in Jesus Christ. The law of Moses does not justify us, nor does it bring salvation. So, it has no place as an additional requirement on top of faith for salvation.
The problem with the law is that none of us are good enough to keep it perfectly. As such, we cannot find salvation through it. That is Paul’s entire point. Our salvation is based on Christ’s work alone and our faith in that work. Since this is true, we must be mindful to make sure we are not adding extra layers of works on top of the gospel that we expect others to live up to in order to be saved, when it is not required.
