2 Thessalonians 1-3
In his second letter to the Thessalonians, Paul writes about the Lord’s return. He wants to make sure these believers are not deceived into believing the Lord has already returned. He then gives them signs to look for concerning this event. Along with that, he encourages them to continue in the faith and to act responsibly until the Lord does return, following the example he set for them.
Paul was encouraged by the Thessalonians because they were flourishing in their faith and increasing in love. That is the mark of a believer. Jesus says that his disciples will be known by their love (John 13:35). But, when it comes to flourishing in the faith, we do that by standing firm on the truth of Scripture and living out its commands. Even persecution didn’t stop them from living out their faith. That should serve as a call to us to survey how we live for the Lord.
Is your faith flourishing & are you increasing in love for others?
