1 Thessalonians 3-5
After Timothy’s return, Paul is encouraged by the good report he receives. With this, he moves into his encouragement for these believers. He tells them to continue doing what they have already been taught and are doing well. The love they have, keep doing it, but do it even more. Finally, he encourages them concerning the Lord’s return. He wants them to live in a way that is mindful of the Lord’s return.
Our job as believers, as Paul teaches, is to encourage and build up one another. We do this primarily through the discipleship relationships we have. It is what Paul modeled for these believers and what Jesus calls us to. As we do this, we strengthen the church, as well as our own faith, which better equips us to live this out.
