Romans 9-10
Paul now moves to a discussion about Israel and their rejection of God’s salvation. He continues to show that salvation comes through faith and that Israel is not saved because they are Abraham’s descendants. Instead of walking by faith, they chose to pursue the law as a form of works. And, as such, when Christ came, they rejected the message he preached. Instead, they chose to remain ignorant to God’s righteousness and how to acquire it.
The righteousness and salvation we have is by faith alone. There is nothing we can do to work for it. We can only believe. Our salvation is “Jesus + Nothing = Everything” and we add nothing to it. Everything we do flows from our salvation, not to obtain it. This truth is a stumbling block for many and keeps them from faith. But we must show how much God loves us and is gracious to give us such an offer of salvation.
Are you basing your salvation on faith or works?
