Proverbs 1-2
In the beginning of the book of Proverbs, Solomon explains to his son the importance of walking in wisdom. The path of the wise and understanding is contrasted with the sinner and fool. Those who seek wisdom will have a stable and sure path. But, those who follow after sinners will find death and destruction in the end. Solomon also says that a healthy reverence for God is the first step to finding knowledge and wisdom.
Solomon’s message in the first two chapters is clear: listen to wisdom when it calls. If we let sinners entice us, we are assured what that end will be. This is especially true when we are given wisdom and we choose to ignore it. Instead, we must dive into the depths of wisdom and apply it. This begins by asking God, again much like the psalmist in Psalm 119 or James in James 1:5. Our search for wisdom and knowledge begins with God.
