F260 Day 168: Luke 15-16

Luke 15-16

Upon hearing a comment that he welcomes tax collectors and sinners, Jesus begins teaching in parables about repentance. He teaches three parables that all make the same point: heaven rejoices over the sinner who repents. This is why Jesus spends time with them. Jesus continues to teach another parable on stewardship to his disciples. The chapter ends with Jesus emphasizing the need to heed Scripture because that is what God has given us to know how to live.

The church isn’t a good ol’ boys club full of righteous people. It is full of broken people who have come to God in repentance. This is why we preach the good news, so that others can repent and the heavens rejoice. As disciples this is part of our call. Not only are we to share the good news, but we are to then teach them how to live as disciples so they can do the same. This is what pleases God.

Do you rejoice like the angels when someone comes to faith in Jesus?
