Romans 3-4
Paul makes it clear that everyone is guilty of sin in God’s sight and worthy of God’s wrath. Even when it comes to the law the Jews had, its main purpose was to reveal sin. He then explains how righteousness is obtained, which is through faith in Jesus Christ. This point is then elaborated on by using Abraham as an example, since we follow his example of faith and are his spiritual descendants.
Jesus is the only way we have right standing with God. He died to pay the penalty for our sins and was raised to life to bring our justification (Romans 4:25). This is where our faith lies and it is our hope. We cannot make it to heaven on our own. Righteousness cannot be earned by the work of our own hands. We need a savior, and that is Jesus.
