Genesis 15
It had been several years since Abram first left his family to follow the Lord’s call in Canaan. He had prospered and been blessed by the Lord, but he still had no heir. In this chapter, God once again speaks to Abram and reaffirms the promise he made to him. God told Abram he’d have a son & have offspring as numerous as the stars of heaven, and that he’d possess the land of Canaan. Abram had faith and took God at his word. In response, God counted Abram’s faith as righteousness. God then swears by himself, making a covenant with Abram, to fulfill these words.
The New Testament tells us that it is those who are of the faith of Abram/Abraham that are the true Israel.
Are you of the same faith as Abraham? What’s the basis of your righteousness?
