F260 Day 134: Esther 1-2

Esther 1-2

In the beginning of Esther, we are introduced to King Ahasuerus, king of the Medes and Persians. During a period when he held a feast for 6 months, his queen, Vashti, did not come to him when requested. After seeking counseling, Ahasuerus removed her as queen and began a search for another. Hadassah (Esther) is one of the women chosen to go before the king. She finds favor at every turn and is eventually made queen. We also see her cousin Mordecai, who serves in the palace, protecting the king by foiling an assassination plot.

In a book of the Bible where God’s name is not mentioned, we still see his fingerprints all over the place. Time and time again we see Esther finding favor with different people, which we know is orchestrated by the Lord. The same with Mordecai discovering the assassination plot. God is working in the background, even if we do not see him. He does the same in our own lives. We might not always see him, but he is working in the details to accomplish his purposes.

Do you trust that God is working even when you can’t see him?
