John 16
Jesus explains to his disciples that persecution is coming, and it will come from those who think they are in service to God. He tells them this so they are encouraged and not taken aback when it happens. With this, Jesus also tells his disciples that he will send a helper to them who will convict the world of sin and guide them in the truth. All of this is to prepare the disciples for Jesus’ departure so that their sorrow will be turned to joy.
It is commonplace to say and sing, “Yes, Jesus loves me,” but Scripture tells us that the Father also loves us. He shows his love by sending Jesus to us. And he loves us because we love and believe in his son. This is a truth we must always remember and hold close. All members of the Godhead love us. And we can show our love by growing in truth and walking in his commands.
How does it feel to know the Father loves you?
