After addressing the issues of false teachings, Paul addresses how the Colossians believers should live. He tells them to put off the old self with its ways and to put on Christ. Paul also tells them to set their mind on heavenly things. In essence, everything they do should be in the name of Jesus and with the aim of pleasing him.
Paul also tells the church to devote itself to prayer. This is something we must do as believers. But, what does it look like? How often do we pray? How long do we pray? I think 1 Thessalonians 5:17 is one indication, when it tells us to pray without ceasing. Prayer should be the mark of our life as believers. We should be in constant communication with God. It should be an open and ongoing dialogue with him. That is how we best live and walk in obedience as Christians.
Do you live a life devoted to prayer?
