Exodus 28-29
In this portion of Scripture, God gives Moses instructions for the priestly garments. The instructions are for how they are to be constructed and worn. After that, Moses receives instructions for the week long ordination ceremony to consecrate Aaron and his sons as priests in Israel.
Again, we see that God wants to be with his people and dwell with them. The priestly garments are a visual reminder of God’s presence among the people. At the same time, we also see how bloody the priesthood is to be. Our sin is costly and it requires much bloodshed. Thanks be to God that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross moved us from daily sacrifices to a once for all sacrifice.
