Romans 5-6
After showing how Abraham was justified by faith, Paul shows how this faith triumphs. This faith brings peace and reconciliation with God. And God did this while we were still his enemies. With this, Paul moves into how we live in this new life. As believers, we are to consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. We are no longer enslaved to sin, but are free to live righteous lives unto God.
Romans 6:11 tells us to consider, which means there is a conscious decision to be made. Even though Christ has broken the curse of sin, we must choose to no longer live in it. When we do that, we are free to walk in righteousness, and live a life that pleases God. This is our sanctification and the choice we make every morning when our feet hit the floor. We must choose wisely.
Are you living as a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness?
